Favorite economical bait from last year

With all the talk about trying to save money on fishing lures I thought I would post of my experience from last year. Like a lot of people on here I am willing to spend large sums of money on bass fishing that I love but am always on the lookout for  deals as it makes me feel good.

On to my point of this story; for several years in a row I was just wrecking fish on a flick shake but with the Jackall worms being so expensive and more fragile than a senko I was looking for an alternative for non-tournament days. Having tried a bunch of different worms nothing was working half as good as the Jackall ones. One day I was in a liquidation store that had Zoom swamp crawlers on sale for $2 a pack. I thought to myself what do I have  to lose as I can just melt them down if I don't like them? What I found is a swamp crawler is softer than any other Zoom bait I have used but did not work well as a flick shake bait for me. With that said I completely wrecked fish on it as a shakeyhead worm, slider worm, and as a drop shot worm! That $2 pack of worms helped me win two club tournaments, accounted for 3 out of 4 of my best days numbers wise and the kicker is I still have 11 of the 25 worms left in the pack. In short this bait has made it into the permanent rotation with me and if you are looking for a low cost worm to cover a lot of different situations look into it.

Creme Scoundrels in the "Live" color. You can find them almost everywhere for a buck or two.

I started using Zoom trick worms on a 1/16oz weedless wacky head instead of using senkos. It's way cheaper, catches piles of fish, and shows them a little something they aren't used to seeing. Because bass never see a wacky rigged 5" senko, right?

zman baits routinely last for a 100 fish or so - that's cheap fishing

Mr. Twister Sassy Shad, I find them for $2.00 to $3.00 a bag, no more than that and they are killers. My buddy was using these last year and I told him I remember the sassy shad, he then asked when the last time I used them was, and to be honest, it had to be at least 20 years ago if not more. Well I can say now that these are in my official panic box, when nothing else is working, a sassy shad will get bit and it is crazy cheap, I don't know why I stopped using them.
