Crappie

Featured Replies

Is this a black or white crappie? I caught a bunch in a small pond yesterday, just curious.

You have to count the spines on the dorsal to be sure but I could call that a black.

whites usually have more vertical bars.

Looks like a black to me.

I'm gonna say a white crappie but I could be wrong.  I can definitively say it's not a star-bellied crappie.

Looks like It's a black crappie, white crappie usually have vague vertical bars.  The only way to tell for sure though is to count the spines, white crappie have six and black have seven to eight.
