For my 45 years young birthday my wife got me a new Hummingbird Helix 7..... Anyone use a larger style fish finder on their yak?

This thing looks way bigger than my Helix 5.. Gotta see if it plays movies while I fish...

Just looks like it would get in the way..

 

I've seen some guys running Lowrance HDS 7's on them. I say run with it and you'll make it work! Happy Birthday, and it sounds like you've got a keeper with your wife!

I have a 5" FF want to get a 7". My friend has one- it's a lowrance 7 though but size why seems a little big but worth it if you're looking at structure and such. Little details make a big difference 

i know a couple of guys that have 7's on their yaks and don't seem to have any issues with them.  i'm sure it all depends on where and how you go about mounting it too.

and agreed on the keeper wife!  can she call mine and give her some pointers sometime before August?

I was gonna say it depends on the kayak but since you mentioned you are in an ATAK, I doubt you will have any issues.  I run the 5 and would have no concerns going up to the 9 or 10.
