My boat has older style Mayfair livewell pumps. The ones with the yellow housings.  I am attempting to replace the cartridge in one of the pumps and cannot figure out how to remove the old cartridge.  The cartridge has the black tabs but the housing does not have the lever that is on the newer (Johnson) pumps.  The pump is positioned in the bilge in such a way that the outlet is not clearly visible.  It seems like there may be a screw on the housing where the outlet is but I can be 100% sure.

Has anyone had any experience with these pumps?  Is there a way to replace just the cartridge or am going to be stuck with replacing the entire pump.

As far as I remember, you just turn the tabs counterclockwise and the cartridge will come out.

Thank you for your response.  Unfortunately, I have tried turning the tabs counterclockwise and nothing moves.  That cartridge is in there rock solid which leads me to think that there is some locking mechanism in place.  I will keep trying.

I'd say pull it out and have a look. Most are only connected to the livewell hoses with hose clamps. If you can get it out it might be easier to see what you're working with and figure out what the hold up is. My dad swapped out one of his last year in his Ranger and didn't have any issues with getting it out.
