Between the Shimano Exsence DC and 16 Metanium MGL. The prices are pretty much the same.

I would go exsence because i like that DC sound

If you want something unique go with the Excense, if you want the better all around reel go with the Met.  That is not to say the Excense is not a fine reel, it is simply saying the Met is possibly the best all around reel ever made.

You guys are the reel fanatics. EllisJuan I look at the price and think I could grab a GLX from Monster. I'm more of a rod fanatic.

How would you say the GLX compares to the NRX? I got an updated IMX through the Xpeditor-program. I like the size the NRX offers the 872s. The longer rod should be perfect for St Clair. I'd probably buy the GLX in a second if they offered the 872s.

The GLX JWR is a very nice rod and well worth the sale price.  That being said, I would pay the extra ~$75 for a NRX if I was doing it again.  Not because the GLX isn't awesome, the NRX is just so very good.

If I was going to fish hardbaits exclusively I might go dc but if not always met ... Consequently I am probably going dc with my next purchase 

Probably get an Exsence while you can. Fairly certain they are discontinued.

Screw rods, reels are just kool !

Get the Exsence and don't look back. 

Sold both my Met DCs in favor of the 2013 Metaniums.  Never owned an Excense, but if you want to add a DC reel to your arsenal, I understand its a good reel at a fair price.  If you want one of the best casting and versatile reels out there, its tough to beat the Metanium.
