Hey all, looking into building my first rod. Looking for some Input from you guys. Should I start with a spinning or casting build? I've only looked on mudhole because their kits are fairly priced. Anyone know of any good building kits from other companies, web sites etc?

Get Bit and  Binghams are good too there are others as well. A casting guide train is a little simpler or go with a Microwave spinning kit until you get up to speed on the different spinning guide systems. 

i have no info or experience with rod building, but i'd go with the type, length, action, etc. that you're most likely to use often.  That way you'd be able to critique your work a little more and fine tune your skills for the next build, and the next build, and the next build....
