you should really watch me fooling around with them!  "speed" is definitely not a word that you'd use when describing.  goofy, painful, hilarious, cluster**** ....  would all be better used to describe the process!

I usually use a snap, or tie direct. Anywhere there is pike or muskie I will throw a steel leader on. I usually use a snap on most hard baits.

When I was young I'd always use a snap swivel. For the past decade or so I've been tying direct on everything until last year I started using a snap swivel on my medium to deeper diving crankbaits. I think this next year I'll do the same, but tie direct on the squarebills still and it forces me to retie more often.

The reason I ask was, I have a bud that uses a snap. I always tie to split ring but was considering a snap for quick changes. I think Ill look into the norman speed clip mentioned.

But do you guys tie a loop knot or a tight knot? Can that be another choice? On jerk baits and frogs I tend to use the loop knot but cranks just a palomar or regular clinch knot. 

Last week I lost a XD attached to a "brad" brand 50# clip. Pop off like it was on a 2# leader. So no more clips or swivels.
