Renosky Frog Buzzbait

Featured Replies

Has anyone used this lure? I can't get it to do anything.. The blade won't spin and it just helicopters underwater.. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks..

Does the prop spin freely when you spin it with you finger?  If not it may be damaged.  If it spins freely, are you keeping the rod tip up high, and reeling fast enough to keep it on the surface?

Yup prop spins free as can be.. Retrieving it with a high rod tip as well like you would with a standard buzzbait and nada... Any other buzzbait I can get to run just fine, this one is just a hunk though.. Like you said, possibly may be defective..

I'm going to guess that frog body is too buoyant so it's floating on the top and keeping the blade from being able to catch the water correctly.

Right in front of the frog is a lead weight and it goes under just fine.. but when it's under it just spins in circles.. I think I'm going to make the assumption that this is a piece of crap lure because I have several other buzzbaits that swim effortlessly.. this thing does nothing..

Sometimes lure makers do something real gimmicky to catch your eye in bait store.

Actually being able to catch fish can be secondary.

I ordered some swim baits from Renosky a couple years ago, for nostalgia's sake (I've had one in my tacklebox since I was a kid). Anyway, quality was extremely poor. The first one I tied on started to fall apart after just a few casts.  Come to think of it, the swim action wasn't really impressive either. I highly doubt I'll be ordering anything else from them.
