Virginia Beach Bass

Featured Replies

Just recently moved to VB after graduating from college.

Was living in the Franklin County area so it was awesome having SML close by and tons of farm ponds every where.

Anyone got some tips on the best places to fish for some bass? My apartment complex swears the lake on the property has "big fish" and "wide mouth bass" (i laughed when she said that). But I've fished it a couple times using different lures and didn't get a single bite so idk how accurate the information is.

Thanks in advance!

NOW is the time for fishing. I also currently live in Virginia Beach, and formerly lived in Ferrum. Small world. There are numerous drainage ponds and most of them hold fish. If you have a boat, I can recommend Lake Western Branch and Lake Prince. There is a license required ($40.00 per year for non-residents of Norfolk) and size is restricted to 17 feet and 15 HP. The fishing is excellent. Additionally, Back Bay is on the upswing and should continue to improve. It was once THE premiere place in Virginia for trophy bass. Tight lines

Ed, don't want to see you or anyone else getting a ticket.  There is no boat length limit and the HP is restricted to 10 HP or less.

Thanks. I thought the last time I was there that they had upped the HP. Mine is a 9.9

yeah, I used to fish that area and I know people would take a 9.9 hp engine cowling and up the carb making it like 15hp, and keeping that 9.9 cover.
