Anyone get a 2016 Shimano Scorpion yet?

Featured Replies

These things look sweet and I'm thinking about getting one on ebay. Opinions?

It's a Curado 70 with a different color scheme.

Yep, I've got 2 (Scorpion 70HG's) ....and yes just like Brantley5 said its just a curado 70 with a different color scheme....i've got both kinds and love them both....very compact, great for pitching.

How do you guys like the new brake system?  I LOVE my curado 50es/Ch50es and my one equiv scorpion.  My most versatile reels IMO.

Seems to be good so far.

A bit of a learning curve and does require more frequent adjustments. My 201i is barely broken in though.

It does feel very connected and powerful during retrieve. The stock drag is very smooth too. The side plate release can take some getting used to.

I tried out my Curado 70, definitely smoother and feels better to me.  I own 50e's too, still like them and wouldn't give them up just yet, but I probably will buy more 70s in the future.  FYI I was able to throw a 1/8 oz bullet weight with a zoom meanie worm without even breaking it down and cleaning it and I didn't have issues getting decent distance.  I think the braking system is far superior when you dial it the way you need it.  I have all 4 brakes on and adjust the wheel.
