Bass Boat Trailer Glides

Featured Replies

I have an 87 Ranger 393V that is in great condition thanks to my Father.  ;D He kept it stored in the basement/garage and pampered it, even though he fished it hard.  I want to replace the bunk boards and carpet.  I was thinking about buying some bunk glides to install.

This old boat is heavy and would be easier to load with the bunk glides.  I am worried about the fiberglass resting on the glides for any long amount of time.  :-/

Does anyone have any suggestions?  ???

I have the same question.  My boat is 20 years old so its pretty heavy.  Its a 20 Fiberglass bass boat.  i need to re-carpet the trailer boards but I was thinking about putting in the roller boards instead.

Any one tried that?  BPS has them up to 5 feet long and I think I need longer ones than tha which makes me think that they may not be appropriate for bigger boats.

I'm also afraid that there will not be enough friction to hold the boat on the trailer when I pull it out of the water.  If it is too easy to roll on,  the bulk of the weight of the boat will be on the winch.

I have a Ranger 185vs & the dealer told me not to use the rollers. That it could warp the bottom because of the weight distribution.

I'm with scbassin, i would not use them either.I think the more support you can have for the bottom of the boat while trailering the better.the only benefit I would see to them would be to launch on a shallow ramp, and thats not a good idea anyway.I would just install the new carpet on your old bunks.

i thuoght about doing the same thing. instead i just spray my bunks down with a silicone spray. if u want to u can rub a candle over them.
