Best Bait Cast Reel for the Money

Featured Replies

I am getting ready to begin purchasing a new casting set up. I'm wanting the best bang for my buck. Leaning towards No. *** Med. Casting rod. Just not sure what reels to look at.

At full price, sale price or closeout price?

I've got several reels that I consider extremely good for the price.  Picking the best bang for the buck is too hard for me.  Picked up two Pinnacle Primmus on sale that have to be near the top.  Okuma Helios Air on sale is right up there.  I'm assuming you are only asking about new reels that are still available.  Otherwise I could mention the Ambassadeur Black Max 1600C and older gold colored Carbonlites as two more reels that outperform their cost.

Welcome aboard!

More info needed. "Best Bang for Buck"
is relative. Could be a Steez for someone,
or a $50 Walmart reel.

For my casting reel I can't think of a better
one than my Chronarch 50e. I've had cheaper
models. I consider the 50e the best bang for
my buck that I spent on casting reels.

Take it FWIW... :)

Depends on your budget, of course.  My votes are for the Daiwa Tatula and Lew's BB1.

Tight lines,

Bob

The best reel for my money is a used one at a fraction of its original cost.  Quality reels are built to last and with a little cleaning and lubrication they will cast like new.  The fish don't mind a little boat rash and neither do I.

My vote would be a Shimano Antares?, bang for buck is a big variable. Because you can get a lot for $100,$150, or $250. Just depends on what kind of quality pleases you, pro qualifiers and speed spools are good sub $100.

I was looking at a diawa tatula which are 100$ every big retailer and on the bigbay they were 93$shipped. I saw I could get the HD model for 119$ shipped which is sold 200$ every where I looked. I figured mine as well get the upgraded version when the savings were 80$ and now a yr or two down the road I won't want to upgrade.

Abu round reels last forever .and if u ever need parts thats forever too.

The Tatula Ct at $130 is tremendous value for money to my eyes.

Lew's LFS Tournament MB. $125, very low profile, aluminum frame, dual braking systems, 14 lb. carbon drag, compact and light, casts a mile and I can't seem to make it backlash.

I agree completely.

Plus four gear ratios to choose  from.

You can often find  them for around   $100.

And I'm  a shimano  man.

This is a great reel and can be found on ebay for $110

I have gone to Tatulas for most of my setups.  At around $100, including tax & shipping, can't be beat.  Great reel.
