Attacking a New Pond

Featured Replies

There is a shopping center where i live and in the middle is a 5 acre-ish pond. It is very beautiful without much excess vegetation and good water quality etc. Anyway i saw someone fishing there with bass gear and there are no signs stating otherwise so i think i will try to fish there maybe sometime in June. Any tips for catching fish a new pond like this? I did see a school of coppernose bluegill once but besides that i dont know any other species. I would love to catch a variety of species so suggest away.

senkos, ned rigs, bluegill swimbaits and frogs

no different than another pond or body of water....  start out with what you're comfortable with and make adjustments until you find what they're willing to bite.  right now the soft plastics are on fire around here (texas rigged worms, craws and senkos)

Dropshot 3" to 4" plastics like a nosehooked Reins bubbling shaker until your arm falls off!

Spinnerbait or a chatterbait to start...

Reaction bait to start, cover some water to see what's up and if it's even worth the time.  Spinnerbait, chatterbait, jerkbait, swimbait.
