Does anyone ever “double set” the hook
With bass, no. Now if I’m musky fishing, yes. Unless they drill it next to the boat...then I just hold on.

In the Chetek area.

Do bass eat perch? And what is predatory behavior?
If it fits into their mouth, they’ll eat it. Aaron Martens won a tourney targeting an area where birds were nesting in tall grass, bass were eating the baby birds as the left the nest. So 100% they’ll eat perch.

How are the water temps looking in northern WI?
-
Wisconsin
You’re right. It is a big state and I was very general. Crazy that big lakes are still mostly covered. Spawn will be running behind this year. Hope the ice moves out soon for you guys.

I know this past weekend was the opener and that many places up north had ice on later than normal...any word on water temps/bass activity? thanks

WI water temps
Thanks FN! So smallies are wrapping it uo and largies are moving in. Good to know. May take a bit for things to stabilize enough for the LM to really get going.

WI water temps
Nice update. Gotta think that the fish that were moving up were probably set back with the weather/temp changes. Guessing that water levels will be up fairly significantly. What is the vegetation like? Behind, ahead or on pace with a normal year? Thanks!

WI water temps
Been an interesting stretch of weather up there over the last few weeks. As it relates to fish, I'm guessing they're pretty out of whack when it comes to doing their thing this time of year. Should be interesting.

WI water temps
That's a bummer Scott. Ol' Mother Nature....she's a heartless lady. I hope things change and you get some stable conditions soon.

Hope everyone in the Chetek/Barron County area is safe and well after the storms yesterday. Thoughts and prayers to those affected.

WI water temps
Great info! Much appreciated. Glad to hear that your thumb was tore up! Always a sign of a good day on the water. I'm two weeks out from being up there but it looks like things are warming up pretty steady right now. I'll probably hit you up mid to late next week to get an update. Or if you have any more time on the water before then I'd love to hear the report.

Too big to carry on. I'm traveling by plane next week for a fishing trip, and have previously. Plano rod tube, checked...is what I do.

Wisconsin Anglers
So it sounds like the spawn is getting close, with warm and rainy weather on it's way. I'll be up there next week, I'll make sure to pack rain gear.

What Size Lure is "Too Big"?
Really can't go too big. Especially for big fish, which are looking to maximize the return of their energy output.
