Screw lock problems

Featured Replies

I have a bunch of shakeyheads, don't recall who makes them, but I hate em haha. Every time I catch a fish, I lose the worm and the scew lock, it breaks off from the jig head and takes the worm with it. Is this like an intrinsic property of shakeyheads? Should I try some new ones, or try something similar to the VMC Rugbyhead?

I make my own and have never had one break.  I'd be looking at the jig mfg to see what they say.

That pretty much shouldn't be happening with any screw lock!

They do make nail type retainer shakey heads. Can't remember the brand, but the concept is designed to release the worm as soon as the fish strikes, thereby affording a better hookset.

you got some duds. throw them in the garbage. get some Spot Removers or Dirty Jigs. your pal, slo

I like useing the war eagle heads. Hookup rate is very good and they are not too expensive. I bought the big bite brand and the screw lock seems weak. Missed two fish back to back trying the big bite and put them away. I'm always looking for a good deal but I can't stand missing bites. Maybe it was me but I'll stick to the war eagles for now.
