Hello all, I am new to this forum and have been doing a bunch of research on lines but never really got anything to satisfy me. 

Okay so im sort of on a budget and only use two rods and two reels. 

1st setup- BPS carbonlite 7'0 MH fast action rod paired with a pflueger supreme spinning reel. 

2nd setup- *** *** black gen 2 paired with *** *** baitcasting reel. 

I fish from the shore and about 50% of my fishing consists of soft plastics whether it be Texas rigs, wacky rigs or flukes. I fish them all. The other 50% is chatterbaits, crankbaits (lipless and lipped). I also fish a ton of top water like a jitterbug or a frog. 

My question is to see what type of line everyone thinks I should put on my spinning and baitcasting setup.  Or should I do two different lines on each setup and designate them to different applications. (keeping in mind I only have two setups).  Basically I just want an all around good line that can get me best of both worlds. I'm definitely open to any suggestions you guys have.

Would you suggest a flouro leader or just straight braid? And thanks for the reply!

With braid, I would use a 10-12lb mono leader for all trebles. This is a personal preference. And a fluorocarbon leader isn't a must, but does offer a few advantages. When I tie on a fluorocarbon leader, I go 17-25 lbs. More often its 25lb. 

@Jar11591the one thing I'm a little apprehensive about is the slack line sensitivity with braid. Will I be able to feel bites when I'm using soft plastics?

Braid has almost ZERO sensitivity on a totally slack line. However on semi-slack line, ( a slight bow in your line, not just laying limp on the water) to me there is nothing better. Mono and fluoro still retain some of their sensitivity when totally slack, braid not so much. Just remember to keep the braid just slack enough to let your baits fall naturally, while not having it lay on the water.

Okay I sort of realized that whenever my line is slack I'm actually watching the line to see if it moves anyways. So basically my previous question is sort of obsolete.

I do a ton of Texas Rigs where I drag a lizard or something on the bottom. And my guess is that braid has the best sensitivity when the lines are tighter like that?

Every word is sage advice. I do both of these, but I don't use any leaders. I don't fish anywhere I would describe as clear.

I'd go 15# PowerPro with a fluoro leader on the spinning reel, and 20# braid on the casting...the lighter line will get you some extra casting distance since you're fishing from just the shore.

I use 15lb for spinning and 30 for baitcasting.
