Glad to read your post and that you are alive and well.

Let us know how you did.

Good luck!  I haven't been in a while since they lowered the water level, I couldn't launch my boat it was so low the last time I was there.  Has anyone been lately that can report the water level?

A buddy of mine was out there and caught a few.  It was his first trip so he may not know what normal water levels are like.  It is one of my favorite places to fish but i haven't been out there this year yet.

water level is back up to where it normally is, at least it was about a month ago. They have some good sized bass there, I've caught my biggest way past the second bridge in a stump field. I've also caught a 25" bowfin (and my only one) there. I haven't figured that place out completely, so cant help you too much. hope you found some good ones!

Talked to a guy that caught close to 100 crappie out there like 4 weeks ago but not sure about the bass. I've caught at least 1 over 3lbs every weekend for last 4 weeks at Chickahominy Lake.

I've never been to Diascund Reservoir but have been thinking about going recently. Is it easily fishable by kayak? Or is it too big and spread out?

It's 1,110 acres. How far can you paddle?

I've got a trolling motor so I have some help. I am just wondering if there is decent fishing within a reasonable distance from the boat ramp since I am limited to a kayak

If you have a trolling motor you will be fine.  I don't and fish from a kayak and I am fine too.  I think the best water is a few miles from the launch either towards 64 or up past the two bridges but i am not sure how much the water being down for so long impacted the fishing.  I may go out there next time i get out.

Thanks I hope to get out there soon.

Guy showed me pictures of crappie caught in april and had over 50 with some close to 14". I've only been out there once but it was mid day. Would like to try it early morning. I've mainly stuck with Chick lake.
