Best baitcasting rod

Featured Replies

I'm looking for a good baitcasting rod that's under $200, I primarily use soft plastic frogs, lizards, flukes etc. and I'm looking for a good pole that shapes around that setup and I don't quite know what rod to get. Please help.

Dobyns Savvy 734 ($179.99 on TW) may be a good and versatile option.

:welcome:  to the forum.

Won't need a really sensitive rod for those techniques.  I'd probably be looking at getting a 7' to 7'6" MHF or a HF depending on the rod's rating.  Powell makes some pretty nice rods.  Either in the Max 3D or Max 3D mag Bass series.  I've been reading some good things about the new Mojo Bass rods.  You really have lots of nice choices at that price point.  Might want to look at a Hammer 7'3" Heavy or Extra Heavy.

I personally recommend:

St. Croix Avid

Shimano Zodias

Abu Veracity or Ike Series

Welcome aboard!

Definitely do some reading in the post
from @roadwarrior as this question is
asked on a weekly basis. There are
many other threads that could also
give you more food for though.

That said, St. Croix Avid, or new Mojo
are solid sticks to start with, as are
so many in the $200 range...
