So I was checking out the the siebert site and saw his dredge jigs with that big wide hook. I consider myself a pretty good jig fisher and I always have one tied on. But having bass spit a jig was just always part of the territory. 

So for those that have used these does it help with keeping the bass hooked up?

A coincidence that I was fishing a 3/8 oz Dredge jig yesterday and had about a 2 - 3 pound LMB toss the jig on the second jump. I can't say with the limited time that I've fished them so far that they keep the fish buttoned-up any better than other hook styles...but it DOES seem like I initially stick the bass better with this hook style. Other board members have given the Dredge good reviews in earlier threads.

Yea I can see how it would help with the initial hook up and that's a plus but I'm so used to the regular jig hooks I have developed a pretty hard hook set. Maybe I'll give em a shot and see. They seem to be good quality none the less

with Owner cutting point hooks , you don't need a hard hook set , just a quick snap then pressure on the line .

I truly believe I have a higher hook up ratio and landing rate using these jigs. Enough to where my friends believe too from fishing side by side with different jigs. 

Just caught a couple this evening on a Siebert jig myself!  I don't have anything other than anecdotal "I crossed his eyes!" observations, but I have more confidence in Siebert jigs than any others in my box... regardless of style.

Just for clarity sake Mike gives you several hook options. The standard Mustad Ultra Point hook, the Owner Deep throat hook, and the Owner Round bend. As you noted the Dredge features the Owner Deep Throat Hook. These are great hooks and have very good hook up ratios. As a matter of fact all 3 types of hook have good hook up ratios for me. The key is making sure the weed guard is not too stiff and collapses like it should. I probably have a few hundred jigs built on Owner Deep Throat Hooks. A few other jig companies use them or have used them in the past but Siebert is one of the only companies using them regularly.

i absolutely love that owner deep throat hook.  hookups are great, they're super stout and it keeps the trailer on a little better.  all the jig heads i just bought from Mike have that hook.  my buddy calls it the "gaff hook"

I'm a huge fan of the Owner Deep Throat Hook. It is one of my best selling series of jigs. One thing I have noticed is with that square bend the trailer tends to not roll up the hook as fast as a round bend hook. 

I love those dredge jigs with the deep throat hook.  I truly believe that I have a better hook up ratio while using them as compared with others.  Thanks Mike!
