Ranger Z vs. VX

It might be because Ranger hasn't given them one yet.  :o I have fished out of both. My tournament partner just traded his VX in for a Z a few months ago and I love the new Z. I just wish he would have gotten a double console. The Z is very fast (225hp Z20 goes about 73mph). It gets up out of the water quicker than the VX. But cost about 42,000+. Cha-Ching. And because it is a brand new design it has had a few bugs that have had to be worked out. But Ranger fixes them fast.

You nailed it on the head.  Most pros take delivery of their new boats later in the year.  Customers are #1 in Ranger's book, so they get their boats first - before most pros.

That said, there's always a mad dash at the beginning of the year to outfit the FLW tour with all those custom boats.  But they still manage to get customer's orders taken care of even during that frantic time of the year.

My fishing partner has a Z20 with a 225 yamaha. It tops out at around 73mph. I gets out of the hole quick. Faster than any other brand I have been in. The livewell system is great and the padded front deck sure saves your back. I could go on for ever.

just bought a 520vs 2006 w/merc 225 xs

I rode in several Z and did not like them, they r fast but u realy have to "DRIVE" them. (they can get a little lose) my other prob. with them r those latches they dont open or close on the boats i've looked at.

I like the looks though.  cant go wrong with a RANGER

Sponsored fisherman are not always on the cutting edge as far as boats. That combined with Ranger dealers preferring to fill customer orders first, are part of it. Then you have the sponsored anglers that don't want to get the first ones rolling out of the shed! Most pros would rather have the bugs worked out before they crawl into a new boat since they make their money in them. I know of 2 sponsored anglers that could have gone with the Z boats but went with the proven older models.
