new river question below Clayton lake

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Just found this site and thought I would jump aboard when I saw some older posting of Clayton lake. A buddy of mine and myself are planning on coming to the New River and doing some wade fishing around the Parrot road area close to Radford. I was wondering with the recent rain how is the water level and clarity? I Iive about 4 1/2 hours away here in Ky. and would hate to drive that far for muddy water and high water issues.

Thanks for any information and good luck fishing wherever you go!

Yes below the Radford area around Bellsprings road. We wade fish a couple times a year in that area.  I would hate to drive 4 hours and it be muddy.

I personally would wait. I'm not familiar that much with the New river levels, but VA mountains have gotten a heap of rain this month. Better safe.

I contacted them and they said it was fine down their way. By looking at the usgs streamflow data it looks great right now at 2.3

I think we are good to go now!
