Shimano Curado Anti reverse problem.

Featured Replies

So I am having an issue with my curado.

When I pull line off the spool even with the drag tight the handle turns backwards?

I took the anti reverse out and wiped it down thinking it was maybe over greased/oiled but still have the same issue.

Wiping won't do much of anything. The AR needs to be flushed like any other bearing. If that doesn't do it the AR clutch will replacement.

So should I just soak it in kerosene or something like that?

Make sure you have very good ventilation if using acetone.  I personally avoid it preferring other options that work as well.

" Breathing moderate-to-high levels of acetone for short periods of time can cause nose, throat, lung, and eye irritation. It can also cause intoxication, headaches, fatigue, stupor, light-headedness, dizziness, confusion, increased pulse rate, nausea, vomiting, and shortening of the menstrual cycle in women.

Breathing highly concentrated acetone vapors can irritate the respiratory tract and burn your eyes. Skin contact with acetone can irritate or damage your skin.  "  from US National Laboratory of Medicine.

So I ended up flushing the anti reverse bearing and it seemed to help a little but I still have the same issue.

Going to order a new AR clutch and see if that does it,if not I am a lost...

You could simply find a local repair shop near you.  Otherwise Delaware Valley could fix it for you.
