PeterF
Anyone know where I can find some pics of that jon boat? I'm thinking of taking on a project like that :-/ or maybe finding a 16' Tracker with a bad engine and rip the console off (can't use power on my lake). Low_Budget_Hooker
TMIKE- How much weight did all that wood add? We did my buddy's boat (a 14) in a similar way but we used 3/8 cdx with 1 sheet of glass mat under on each piece. Rock solid and 1/2 the weight of using 2x4's and 1/2 inch. Coat the entire piece with resin, not just the side with the mat and these will last FOREVER! For some ideas for a smaller jon,see mine here This boat was done about a month before the bass tech boat airred. Complete instructions in post Avoid the herculiner or rhino lining as a bottom paint. Didn't work. It did work great for foot rests and t/m mount though. Any questions, PM me.
Triton_Mike
Low Budget, I don't have a clue how much weight it added but I need all the weight I can get to help keep me from blowing around like a cork. I am going to add 2 82lb thrust t motors on the back and a 82lb foot on the front. GOing to have 6 batteries and a Charger that charges all 6 batteries in a series. Also going to make my Humminbird 987 portable from my Tr-20 Triton . Going to add a livewell and pump as well as a pump out bilge. When I finish with this bad boy it's gonna be a hi teck redneck boat. I saw your boat wow thats a very nice before and after improvement!!! Nice job. basser89
When I first set my boat up, I messed up in a couple of ways!!! > First, I used 3/4" treated plywood. This ended up making it REAL front end heavy (my front deck is 8'). That made it kinda difficult running the trolling motor on the lakes before I got my outboard. Next one was a mess up on the front deck design. I didn't really figure that one out until I started tourney fishing. Last one was made up of adding a few accessories later on (not pleased with the wiring!!!). This spring, I'm remodeling the front deck. Dropping down to 1/2" plywood and changing the configuration of the deck. While the deck is torn off, I'm setting up the wiring the way it should be! Then its new carpet! I can't wait!!!!!! Super User Raul Posted January 20, 2006 Super User Share Posted January 20, 2006 Very nice jobs ! I specially like Low Budget 's one, good ideas that I can add to my boat because it 's pretty much like his, I like the seats but can 't use those in my boat, they need to be lower because I flip it around and cartop it. Low_Budget_Hooker
Raul- These are best for boats that need to be flipped. The baseplate slides into the 2 tracks that mount on the seat. Seat, swivel, 7" pedestal and baseplate all come off as 1 piece.
Super User Raul Posted January 20, 2006 Super User Share Posted January 20, 2006 Thanks for the link ! I 'm going to work on my boat this year to make it more comfortable, I burned my rear end enough for the last year to make me wish for a seat, the aluminum seat can get really hot ya know, and when you sit down again.....surprise ! >, definately not good for hemorroids, if you don 't have them already after a while of heat treatment you develop them. T mike Whats the purpose for having two of them, is it just to move faster?
Triton_Mike
Peter F, I listed some supplies in this post that I posted a while back. Read down the posts for the list another site Will, The reason for 2 trolling motors on the back and one on the front is for speed. These lakes I am going to fish are roughly a thousand acres or so. They are big enough for an outboard but they only allow electric only. You can't even have an outboard on the back of your boat. I am going to rig the 2 82's in the back with a big foot that I can operate and turn them on from the front of the boat. I am going to steer with the foot control 82lb thrust on the front. Gonna have 246lbs of thrust ~~ Some guys have over 300lbs of thrust on their electric boats. :'( Hope this answers your questions..
