Pork Jig Trailers

Featured Replies

When I used a pork jig trailer for the first time this past weekend I could not for the life of me get the d%mn thing on my hook because it was so tough. Don't know if I'm mentally challenged or something, but what do you guys do to combat this?

this is one of the big problems of pork.  get some pliers and start pulling.  thats how i do it.  when i jerk enough sometimes the hole starts to widen.  i often end up just cutting the d**n thing off.

i almost never use pork anymore.  to messy and too much of a pain.  aside from the very coldest water i stay away and stick to plastics with just as good if not better results.

One of my favorite trailers is the Hank Parker ProCut Frog.  Even though all the Uncle Josh rinds are pre-punched, sometimes you have to look a bit for the hole.  Once located, I occasionally use a punch to open them up a bit.

When I used pork, I kept a small pen knife open on the front deck to make the slit bigger before I put it on a jig or spinnerbait.

haha if you think its hard to get it on there wait to you have to get it off.  I usually let them dry out and then cut them off with wire cutters.

After you've fished and you're ready to remove the pork, grasp it and turn it so that the "tails" are facing the head of the jig.  Push upward with the jig as you're pulling on the trailer.  I have little or no trouble removing pork trailers like that.
