Going to be there for 4 days . I will get to fish for most of at least one day.  Can anyone give me some insight on an area to fish that will have a beach for my wife to relax at for the day.  Also what i should fish with. I have access to a 10 ft surf caster and some heavy weight freshwater bass stuff and chest waders.  We will be out in the Truro area. Wife will be looking for some beach to relax at, while i fish.  Hope to catch some fish , I don't care what kind of fish.   I will be throwing everything back into the ocean if i am lucky enough to catch anything.

Try for some largemouth in the little ponds all around there. Some great freshwater fishing out that way too.

family vacation, well wife and i anyway.  wont be any freshwater unless there is a beach.  no kayak coming with us either.  will have to try to shore fish at a beach.

We lived on the Cape many years ago.  I used to fish both freshwater and salt water.

I used to fish a small pond that was in Truro or Wellfleet named Horseleech Pond.  It's an ideal cartop boat pond.  That was back around 1972, so I don't know if the access changed.  But, here's the kicker for you.  Only a narrow band of dunes separates the pond from the Atlantic Ocean and a nice sandy beach.

If memory serves it's only a few minutes walk from the pond to the beach.

Do some homework with the local authorities regarding the current access to the pond and the beach.

As an aside, back in the day there used to be a nudist colony on a portion of the shoreline.

Google Horseleech Pond, Wellfleet, MA.  you should get maps that show where the pond is, and its proximity to the ocean.

Thank You for the info.  I will def be fishing salt water at a beach somewhere.  It is just the wife and i , and its technically our anniversary get away.  I am lucky i get to fish an insane amount in my normal life so giving a little here is not a big deal.    It will be surf casting most likely , and it will be at a place where my wife has a beach at the ocean.   We are staying in Truro so it will be it will be somewhere down there , maybe at the P-Town end maybe before at some of those other beaches.   Still time to do some research..........  Swamp  -  You talking salt water like this with a beach area? 

 

We made it to the Cape.  We are staying in N Truro on the bay side right on the water.   Now to find out where to fish.  Someone suggested raceway point and frozen giant clams

I have my waders and 2 surfcasting rods and some top water plugs i borrowed , popper plug and needle fish plugs.
