catchembassem
Hi all I'm new to this great site. I do have a question I need help with. I have been a salt water fisher for many years. I did some bass fishing last summer and got hooked. I just traded a guy for a Evinrude 9.9 2 stroke short shaft. lake in our areas mostly 9.9 only. Now I need a jon boat. My 14 year old son and I were thinking. Just by something plain jane and pimp out the jon boat for bass fishing. I need a 15" transom Most of the jon boats have 20:. I thought about a motor shaft extention kit. A little to pricy for me. I looked at Carolina Skiff J series 16' I'm trying to decide which would be better on the lakes and rivers in the Hampton roads area of Virginia. The Carolina skiff or a Modified "V" Jon boat. What would be better? More stable? Better fit for the 9.9. I can pimp out either one. Thanks.
gamblerOH
Is there any reason that a fabrication shop couldnt cut away some of the transom? If the boat sits plenty high in the water I would think that would be the easiest way to make use of your short shaft motor.--Just a thought
jbh3
I think I would locate a suitable motor or boat/motor combo before I would start cutting on the boat. JMHO here...Good luck.
