2016 Kistler Carbon Steel

Featured Replies

I was looking for a frogging/flipping/punching rod and found the 7'3" Heavy carbon steel heavy frogging and swimbait rod. The reviews are good but I've heard that kistlers warranty is pretty much non existent. I really like the looks of the rod and it sounds like a good fit for what I'm looking for. Any opinions and comments are appreciated.

You're right about their warranty which does kinda suck but their rods are fantastic.  I have a couple Heliums, a KLX, and a Magnesium.  They are all awesome.  Most balanced rods I've fished with, super sensitive, and super strong.  The mag I have has the same specs as the Carbon you're looking at.  It's my dedicated frog rod and I couldn't be happier with it.  I think you'll be happy it.

Just an fyi, the team at Kistler did send me free guides to replace one I crushed on a Helium.  You should watch out for their sales too.  They usually run some pretty great ones,   40% off $500 worth of rods, bogos, etc.

I have the Carbon Steel "All Day Power Tool" which I believe is 7'3" HF.  I got it, and another Carbon Steel rod, free during a "buy a KLX get a Carbon Steel free" sale a few years ago.  I was immediately impressed with the rod and use it regularly.

I have at least a half-dozen of Kistler's KLX series rods, plus a few Carbon Steel and Magnesium models. I've fished most of them for three years now and I think they are excellent rods.  I've never had a warranty issue but I have called Kistler a few times and have been very happy with their customer service.

Tight lines,

Bob

Double check kistler's site for their warranty info which I beleive was recently changed. It looks like the carbon steel has a 1 year warranty. I just ordered a helium 3 from them yesterday. If you plan on ordering direct from them,  PM me for a coupon code.

I have a bunch of Kistlers and I've never had one break. Some are 7-8 years old. i can't say that about other rod manufacturers I have.

Love my KLX, which comes with a 3 year warranty. The Carbon Steel has a one year.

They make a great product, there's no doubt about that.. but if you call don't be surprised if Trey picks up the phone. Good people down there who have really turned it on in recent years. I picked up a 7' MH/MF for deep cranking and I love the thing.

Can't go wrong with a Kistler!

I can't wait to get mine. Talked to trey yesterday and he hooked me up. Great customer service

Thanks guys! I think I'm going to wait and see if the rod I'm looking at goes on sale later in the year.

Kistler makes some very good rods. I haven't tried the carbon steel but I've owned klx and helium 3 rods and they are some of the cleanest built, most sensitive rods for the price for sure. I've never used their warranty but then again I've only broke 2 rods my whole life if you don't count ones that were stepped on or shut in car doors

I absolutely LOVE the Carbon Steel Rods and I’m looking to add a few more to my collection but sadly they are discontinued. Does anyone know where I can still get them? Any help is appreciated.
