Minn Kota Endura C2 40-lb. Thrust Trolling Motor with 36" Shaft

Recommended Posts

is this a good motor for 156$ and will it work on an 80 acre lake with a ten foot jon boat and a 15o pound kid with 50 pounds of gear?

I think it will do the job just fine.

I fished a 14' Jon with a 40# on about the same size lake for years.  It was bow mounted and I did end up adding a second on the transom just to be able to save time if I wanted to "run" to a spot across the lake but the single did fine by itself.

It's alright, I'd be looking for one with variable speed instead of fixed speeds as with every one that I've ever had one speed will be too slow, but the next highest will be too fast. If that's not in you budget though what you are looking at should get the job done.

It would be okay. I would suggest the Minn kota Endura C2 50 Pound thrust 38 inch shaft. It runs $209 at BPS but look elsewhere as other places could be cheaper.  I would make sure you have two marine deep cycle batteries so when 1 dies he has a full one to return with, Your batteries are your gasoline so to speak. I also suggest you get a good charger to recharge them. WalMart has some that work great and they cost about $40 to $50.These are special "smart chargers" and will let the batteries really last longer.

awesome, sounds great! what about lipo or light boat batteries, not sure which one it is, they're lighter or something?

It will do the job. But I found that fixed speed motors are not to my liking. High is fine for moving around but way  too fast for most trolling. The low fixed speed seems too slow sometimes and the medium is a little too fast for what I  want.  I think you would be happier spending a little more for a variable speed motor.

Forget the really light lithium batteries they are extremely expensive.  I would suggest using some agm batteries. They are not light but will give good service.  " A little more for a variable speed motor" means almost $80 more for a Minn Kota Endura Max 55. Now while I much prefer the Endura Max I did not want the op to think it was just say $20 more.
