Possible Boat...

Featured Replies

Hey guys, this boat is being abused in my brother's inlaws garage. We went by today to take a look at it to see if it was worth buying. He's asking $1000 for it the way it is now(motor, tm, everything included). I checked to see if the steering cables work and they do. He said it ran the last time he used it, the trolling motor is a minn kota but it looks as old as the boat. The boat is a 1985 16' fisher marine boat...take a look at the pictures and tell me if it's worth $1000....thanks - josh

Looks like a good deal to me.  If everything works and the motor runs or just needs a tune up then its a great deal!  I know those old johnson motors are good motors my dad has an 84 140hp johnson and it still runs and is as strong as the day he bought it.  Although they do smoke alot when you first crank them.

I agree, IF everything works and the decking isn't rotted... I think it's worth it... doesn't look like too much work to have a nice fishing machine... That's IF everything works.  Make sure there's no holes in the boat or weak spots in the deck.

I actually kind of like it. It's got a bit of a retro cool feel to it, particularly that Eagle flasher on the console. That's kicking it old school. Like fishnbear said, those old Johnsons are tough. There were alot of them made so any needed parts aren't usually to hard to find. The guy is asking $1000 and seems to want it out of his garage. Since he's family I'd give him $800 and offer to help clean up the garage after your new boat is out of his way. Keep us posted.

Does the price go up if you find a worm that is alive in one of those containers  ;D

haha i don't think so...i was hoping he would give me some of the junk his garage so i could put it on ebay and make enough to pay for the boat...he has old rods and reels and a few more TM

Clean it up, clean the carbs and fuel system out, might need a fuel pump kit (depends on how long it has set), replace the water pump impeller, change the LU oil and you have a very nice boat. Thats almost identical to the one I have, mine is the MV-3 instead of the Marsh Hawk. The boat in aveage condition and running is worth about $2,500. I would pull the bottom plug on the LU and let a small amount drain out just to make sure it's black and no water. The LU for that motor is hard to come by.

I think it is a good deal and i would mae an offer below $1000 if not, he will most likely make a couteroffer.

Looks like a good deal to me.  You might want to think about taking it to a shop and have it looked at, just so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into.

Fisher Marine made good boats.  My only concern would be the engine and how long it's sat without use. That's actually NOT a good thing.  Offer $800.
