does anyone know of a good trolling motor repair center in central florida. my motor guide took a crap today. and I really need to fish. checked for voltage and it;s there but motor won't spin. thanks,crypt

Go to the Motorguide web site.  It should have "find a dealer" or something like that and also tell you which are servicing dealers, or where to take your motor for service.

You should also find a place to enter your zip code and then how far you are willing to travel.  It would be something like show me dealers/service shops within (choose the distance) and it will give you a list of dealers, where they are, and how far from your zip code.

they all have said "just buy a new one" it's only 4 years old.  thanks.

Typical in this day it's a throw away world. But I'm  surprised a factory rep would suggest that unless it was a really inexpensive model to start with. 

I guess it could be the cost of repair could be so great it would be cheaper to buy a new on. Or possibly parts are no longer available. 

I have a older than that Motorguide and hope it lasts forever. These things are expensive.

I had my Motorguide Brute 52 repaired awhile back considering what it ended up costing I should have replaced it.  You can try fixing it yourself nothing to lose if they don't even want to try to fix it,

It's unfortunate that it has become a throw away world. Just as unfortunate is that your trolling motor likely wasn't bought at a throw away in four years price. 

A friend of mine was able to source parts for a nearly 20 yr old Min Kota online for pretty short money and do the work  himself. Not much to them. I'll ask him the website. Don't know if they had motor guide parts or not but I'll ask.  

Make sure you check connections between the batteries and the motor.  Voltage can show on a meter if there's any continuity.  It's possible that you have voltage with no load but still have a bad connection somewhere. You've prob already done this but just wanted to throw it out there.  

 

If you told them the problem and they have a pretty good idea what it is, they can let you know if it's worth fixing. I would check and see how much they think it will cost, but if they're charging the going rate at a marine dealership $75-$100 an hour in labor and whatever they have it parts, it just might not be worth fixing. Hopefully you can get it running again though!
