Ok so this is my first hurricane in Florida.  I am in Orlando so we probably wont catch the brunt of it but I was wondering if I should worry about my 14 ft jon boat during the storm.  It sits on a trailer in the apartment parking lot.  Does anybody have any tips for securing, etc.? Should I worry about the wind getting fast and hard enough to push the boat and trailer out of the parking spot? Any advice is appreciated. 

If there is something strong, like a telephone pole where you park, back the rig to the pole, tie the transom to the pole using a half inch or heavier nylon rope, and leave the front hooked up to your vehicle.  Put the rig along the sheltered side of a building to protect it from the wind.

 

You have a few options but no matter what, make sure your boat is strapped to the trailer. Take off any electronics or your battery. Take your prop off too. You can jack up the trailer a couple of inches and put some blocks under it to keep the weight off of the springs, keep the drain plug in, and fill it with water. You could also hook it up to your tow vehicle if you have the space for that and try and keep it protected by something like a building.

see above. I live in Melbourne,right on the coast and my boat is secured to my truck next to the house. bilge is not to full but has enough to keep it stable. cover is off wind will play hell on a cover. had one look like a grizzly  got to it.

All was good.  Boat had a lot of debris in it but everything is intact.  Killed the bass over the weekend after the hurricane!

same here,bass were on fire…….sunday afternoon golf course fishing was great.
