Help identifying this rod

Featured Replies

I just picked this rod up from an estate sale, it says "Frank", i know Frank owned this rod and has passed away.  It says under that Boomer Jr. #60/100, overall length of 68"

I'm just hoping someone can tell me more about this, age, maker, etc...

Thanks in advance for any feedback, and sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, i didn't see a section for identifying help.

I think you are looking at a custom made rod that was most likely built for "Frank Boomer JR". I would expect the rod was built as a boat rod, so to speak, and the blank was built to handle 60 to 100 pound test line. That looks to me to be a rod for salt water fishing for fish like blues, stripers, or even smaller tuna, I am not sure.  Your member info does not say where you live nut if you are near salt water find a good local tackle store that handles salt water gear and ask them what they think he had it built to fish for.

Thank you fishnkamp, this sounds like a logical explanation, I live in California and this rod came from Hacienda Heights, which is about 30 miles away from the Huntington Beach.

Looks like a 90's vintage custom tuna rod with gimbal butt for either trolling or stand up fighting belt. Trying to recall the long range rod builder in Huntington Beach area, the rod blank looks a Tru-Line with AFCO guides and reel seat.
