Fastach or Speed Clip?

Featured Replies

I don't like to use split rings to connect line to crankbaits.  I've been using Speed Clips, but I've just bought some Fastach clips.  Which are better, does anybody have a preference (and why)?

Right now I only use decoy egg snaps (size 1 and 2) on my heavier lures (5/8oz+) and evergreen wide snaps (size 1) on my lighter ones

Between the fastach and the speed clip, I would go with speed clip anyday due to the ease of use and slightly less snaggy design. I had the fastach clip before and I threw it out after an hour or so, I hated using that thing.

Hah, just noticed that I have been running the tag end between the two live ends all this time.  Just tied it the right way and boy is it easier to keep the loop sized correctly.

Norman speed clips. lot less snagging :)

And that is rapala loop, which I normally use if I don't use a snap/speed clip.

Speed Clips are a lot easier to change though not as strong as the Fastachs IMO.  I've straightened one speed clip on a big striper.  I now use speed clips for smaller cranks and fastachs on larger baits

I've tried both and like the Fastach a lot better.

Haven't had a northern straighten one yet.

Ive been using either berkley crosslock snaps or the rapala knot since the 80's.,..  no "issues" at all

I like a correctly sized fastach. I've had failures with virtually every other snap, though only when pike fishing. I have had lure come undone with fastach, but only when using too big a sized fastach. The number 2 is ideal for most bass sized cranks.

hands down the best clip i've tried. strong, easy to use and come thru weeds like butter.

Fas snaps are possibly the best I have ever tried and I tried like everything. They ask work good though. Not much a fan of the afford clips though. They a kinda weak and sorta to start unattaching

Where is the best place to obtain these?  I see them on a website 8 for $5.99.  Is that a good price?  TW has has something similar, P-Line Technical Snap.  Is that the same?  It looks slightly different.

Cape Cod Tackle has them for $4.79. And yes, the P-Line snaps appear to be almost identical. I have never used them, but I would assume they work just as well.

P-line snap if it is duo lock, then I have this one. It it good that you can add swivel into it if you want too, but it is kind of flimsy and a bit harder to lock the snap. After a few time of lock and unlock, the snap will loose it shape and make it even harder.
