I have a white ice duckett micro guide rod in which half of the guides have broken off.  Any one know where I can get rod repaired in the Memphis Area?  I love the rod but hate the micro guides, was hoping to convert it to a traditional guided rod

Chances are, when you get a quote to R&R all of the guides, you'll opt to find another new rod.

I would contact the Duckett people first.  There is no reason a guide will fail just because it is a micro.  They must be using inferior micros.  I have micro casting and spin rods that are years old, lots of casts, lots of fish, no problems.

 

pretty sure the new white ice rods feature American Tackle Heavy duty micro guides , if they are , those are probably the strongest micro guide on the market ! i use them on all my rods including my swimbait rod .(don't have them on my spinning rod either ) the neck on those things are easily twice if not three times thicker than most micro guides ..

did the guides break ? or did the thread wrap fail ??

  Big Bait----the guides just broke off clean at the wrap.  I have heard duckett has been having trouble with the micro's.  I personally don't care for the micros being I throw 17lb test  and also I  need specs to thread the darn thing.  again I love the rods action and would like to keep it

 

That's a $200 rod. I would charge you ten bucks each for double foot guides, and six bucks each for single foot guides, plus the cost of the guides. The last time I shipped a rod to Tennessee, it cost me $27. Be more, maybe a lot more if the rod is over 7'.

so the guides were fine but the thread wraps failed ?

if there are known issues with the guide wraps with Duckett , have them send you a new rod , sounds like a clear case of defective workmanship

Big bait--just the opposite the wraps are fine but the guides broke off I know the warranty will probably cover  but heard they take forever

Find someone local or just buy the same rod used or look for one new. Builders labor and shipping aren't cheap unless you have a connection.

from just regular fishing ??? did you step on them or damage them in some way ? something happened to them cause guides don't just break .

 ceramic rings crack and/or fall out , guide feet bend and might break off with continued straightning of bent guide feet/neck . but to just have more than one guide '' break '' , there has got to be more to the story ..

 

Find a local tackle shop and ask who they know builds and repairs rods. Most shops have a contact, oftentimes they work there. I hooked another member in Tennessee up with a shop near him and they charged him less than $20. So he was thrilled.

please take a close up picture of the broken one(s) and of one of them that is still good , then post them .  thanks

Big bait--really nothing to see just the wrap with the stem of the eyelet barely peeking out.  I didn't step on it, most of the times sock it before I place into rod box in boat.  none of my other rods have this problem and they are way less babied than this particular rod.  I don't care about the money it takes to repair because I love the action of the rod.  But back to the guide it is like it has been cut clean right where the eyelet meets the stem.

i originally thought these were the Artus Heavy Duty micro guides but they are not . if you replace the guides , use them , they are great guides !
