Boat safety class for insurance purposes

Featured Replies

Can anybody give me an idea how much (%) wise one could save on insurance if one was to take a boat safety class?

That questions was asked if I had taken one, while getting an insurance quote for my new bass boat.

It save $15 on my State Farm.  I think that it is a good idea for everyone to take the class.  Some of the stuff you learn you won't use much, but extra knowledge can never hurt!

I save around $15 on my insurance through Alstate.  But, as stated the knowledge is worth more than the savings.  I have been around boats all my life (the Ohio river) and picked up a some good tips.

In NJ, it is now mandatory that you take the safety course.  The Coast Guard is putting them on from $30.00-$100.00 a class!!!  It was 8 hours and pretty darn boring.  Did get some things out of it, but most of it was for ocean applications.
