Rod for pflueger trips baitcast

Featured Replies

I am looking into buying a pflueger trion baitcast reel and was wondering what rod, and rod length, use with it. I fish for bass in ponds and lakes. I fish mostly from the shore and kayaks occasionally.  I'd like to keep the cost less than $50. Thanks in advance.

Berkley lighting rod.

We're gonna need to have more info than that to help you much, such as what lures and techniques you plan to use with the rod.

The best all around rod would be a 6'6 to 7' mh fast action rod.  For the money I will suggest you go online to Dicks Sporting Goods and look at a Quantum Escalade 6'6" MH. It retails for $99. However it is on sale for $50. I fish over 20 rods and 2 of mine are Escalades. I own the 7' heavier rod. Once you find this rod online then check store availability in your area. Most of their stores only get a few at a time. That rod should work well for you. There are lots of other rods I could suggest but this is a more expensive rod on sale. I would also think about your Trion idea.Take a look at a Daiwa Aird first. Put it in your hand first if you can, Walmart has these online for around $60

I've only handled the Escalades in store, but was impressed.  My local store had two.  Hate paying full price so I wouldn't buy one.  Salesman said they never went on sale (in that store) because they sold well at full price,   Haven't seen an Escalade in store since then.  I'd definitely recommend this rod over any that listed in the $50 range.  Felt very light. I'd see about getting one during this sale, but already have 2 new rods on the way and I stopped at Dick's today and spent more on lures than I should have.

It is definitely on sale in the stores in fact I have owned my 7 foot baitcaster about 3 years now but just last month i purchased a 6'6" Escalade spinning rod. It was $49.99 in the store. I am looking forward to throwing light texas rigged plastics and weightless Sencos.

Sorry to hear rthat darn bait monkey struck again.

I have that reel in 6.3 and I love it to death.   It's spooled with 10lb big game and sits on a 6'6 med/mod lightning rod.  I use it for cranks, whopper plopper 90 and small chatter and spin baits.
