Anyone in Northern Virginia?

Hey guys,

First of all to the moderators, if this must be moved to the proper section I entirely understand.. the traffic in the local sections is extremely few and far between so I was hoping to get this out to more folks.

I just moved to Northern Virginia (Alexandria) in July. I haven't done much fishing as we had a baby in September. I'm just starting to get that itch again and was hoping to see if there were any BR guys in the area. Anyone live in Alexandria and fish Lake Barcroft or the Potomac?

Shoot me a PM, would love to get out and fish!

Yes, David, there are a lot of guys from NOVA on the Forum and I am sure they will get back with you.

Stay tuned.

I'm in Springfield. Spend most of my time fishing on the Upper Potomac.

I'm in Fredericksburg and spend most of my time fishing the upper Potomac and Rappahannock.

I'm in Reston and have been fishing the lakes around here.

I'm down in southern Fairfax County (Lorton), and so far have explored the local FFX County Parks lakes.

Shore fishing only, so on the hunt for a good spot local to Lorton that I can reliably drop in on the way home from work and land some bites.

Welcome.

Not a huge number of shore fishing opportunities close.

Depending on the tides...and the fish attitudes, you can sometimes hit them good from spots accessible at Pohick park.

If you have access to Belvoir, you can catch bass from both of the piers there.

There's a few places around where you can rent boats.  I'll try to dig up links to a couple old threads with details.

Many thanks! I wish that I had access to Belvoir, because it's basically across the street and I've seen great things about fishing over on post.

Appreciate you looking into the boats! I've done a few jon boats here and there at the local parks (we spent this past Saturday trolling around the Occoquan), but it'd be nice to get out on a better vessel... at the very least, one where I can drive facing forward and I'm not worried about the battery dying out. ? I've looked into a few of the online boat rental sites, but nothing seems to be very accessible/reasonable for my needs.

Regardless, looking forward to reading up more and getting to know the ins and outs of the local fishing scene more. I've lived in NoVA since 2004, and am just now starting to really get into exploring the local outdoors more. I've waited too long, and have lots of time to make up!

Oh.....about the boats...never mind, then.  All the places I know of are jon boats. (Fountainhead, Lake Ridge, Burke, Brittle, Orange....) Sorry

If you end up with a kayak, lmk -- I'll point you to some local FB groups with tons of info, tournys, meet ups, etc.
