Okuma Mat Daddy for Toads

Featured Replies

Which one? Heavy or Extra Heavy?

a Toad with a double hook is typically

1/2oz. I want accurate bomb casting

and monster hook setting power and lift. I fish heavy top cover with lots of cabomba weed below. I have to get them up and quick. My best to date is 9.4. I lost a 12 or so at the boat this past season. Those dam #4 hooks are just to small. I'm after a state record.

any advice from experience with these rods would be very helpful.

Looking at the specs, both the H and the XH are rated pretty much the same. If I had to choose, I'd go with the XH.

I have the HH Mat Daddy.  Get it.  Use it. Post pics of the DD bass you catch with it.

Although more of a flipping stick than a frog rod (it's nearly 8' long!), it has a light enough tip to throw those frogs out there a long way, but is a beast for ripping toads out of heavy cover.
