Veritas Model Question

Featured Replies

DSG is currently running a sale on the Abu Garcia Veritas rod line. I am looking for a spinnerbait and moving bait rod. I know there are many types of spinnerbait fishing. Here is what I am thinking i will be doing with it:

  • casting along weed lines
  • casting near docks
  • knocking the bait over wood

Most of the spinnerbaits i use are 1/4 - 1/2 oz and double willow or with one willow and one colorado/indiana blade.

Some people have told me that the Veritas are rated MH but are really H. What is a good model for this application?

I agree on abu Garcia running stiffer and faster than rated, they are typically about 1/2 to 1 rating stiffer than rated.

I forgot to mention in the previous post, and just edited it in, that you are right about abu Garcia, they tend to run 1/2 to 1 rating stiffer and faster than rated.

Those Veritas for sure run heavier than the rating.

I do own one veritas, and it's a nice rod.  It fished stiffer than rated, just like all of the other abu Garcia's rod.  I just think that the aotos is a better rod (it retails for $180), and you can get it for sale than the veritas.
