need help with DECKS

Bought it for $200

Boat:

14'

Aluminum Mod-V Bottom

62" Beam

I'm trying to figure out how to put pictures on this site, so ill put them on the next thing.

You could deck the entire thing from front to back.  Did that once on my cousins John boat.  Made a whole lot of fishing space.  Be careful though with that hull the v bottom and rounded transom will make it rock and roll real easy with a deck in it.  Remember the deck will raise the center of gravity from the bottom to some where inbetween.  Should be a fun project either way.  I would use 3/4 inch pressure treated ply for the actual deck material.  If you set things up correctly you should beable to use the existing bench seats to support the deck.

Good luck,

Tom D.

I had the boat in the water with me and another kid in the boat, probably around 270-280 pounds total, and i stood on the bench seats all the way to the edge and it didnt even come close to tipping.  two of us were trying to get it to take on water, and it would be an effort to sink it i think...

Thanks for the info, 3/4 in. pres treated, check, any thing else? anyone?

You mean like this.

I used 1/2 inch plywood. If you brace it properly it isn't a problem.

Before you decide to do it. Get out on the water and stand up on the bench seats and walk back and forth to see how stable it is. If you feel safe doing it then go ahead at have fun.

I'd deck front to back across the top of the bench seats.  As stated, V bottoms can be notoriously tippy when you stand up in them. You might want to try the standing thing with you in the front standing and another guy on the back bench standing.  I'd also suggest foam anywhere you can cram it when you're done for flotation.  Either buy the foam in the can or polystyrene sheets that can be cut up.
