BRAND NEW!!!...almost

Featured Replies

Me and my dad have been looking for a slightly larger boat replace our 14' jon boat for a while now and we were becoming very frustrated with the lack of good boats at reasonable prices. But then we stumbled across a 1996 Bass Tracker Pro 17 with a 40hp Mercury Tracker outboard for $4000 in the Trading Post. We drove down there to look at it and after talking to the owner for a while we found out that it had less than 25 hours on it, heck the outboard prop didn't have a scratch on it.  The boat itself and everything on it looks brand new, even the carpet looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. The only problem  I have with it though, is it only has a 30lb. thrust trolling motor, but I can always get new trolling motor I guess. I can't wait to take this thing for a cruise!!!

congrats looks nice and youll have lots o fun  good fishin

Congrats!!! ;D

You may be surprised by the power that trolling motor .  My BIL has an identical setup and the 40 works fine on his.  Heck I have an older glass boat and all I use is a 37 lb. thrust, and it does is all I need.

Anyways, nice looking rig and if you have enough patience the right deal will always come along.

Sounds like a great deal! But be aware that sitting too long unused can cause issues also. You have engine parts sitting for months with no oil coating, forming surface rust due to changing temperatures and moisture conditions. Plastic water impellers growing old and brittle. I'd suggest a tiny bit of preventative maintenance before running the boat too much. Tune up (plugs, fuel filter, possible carb service), water pump/ impeller and lower unit oil change should be a prerequisite before putting her into service and it won't cost much for the peace of mind.

From a jon boat.....that will change your fishin experience completley (think about it........you can enter a tourny w/ that thing).  < this is me being jealous >

Nice! and don't worry about that 30# TM. Unless your fishing rivers with a fairly swift current or get caught in some gail force winds, that TM will move that boat around very nicely.

Very Nice.... :D

Looks like my very first boat. What I like about it is, I could put that boat where most fiberglass rigs couldn't go....

Enjoy.......

Tight Lines!

Showroom condition is right!  Very clean.

Hope you guys have Good luck with her!

Definately follow skwerls advice.  I personally, would PM "ben" and ask for his advice.  A little now can save you alot later.  Time and money.

thanks guys, I'm really pumped to have this thing. We checked all the parts and everything and fired up the outboard yesterday, everything looked and went fine. But I am gonna follow yalls advice and get a couple people to look at it just to make sure everything is in good running condition. Thanks again :D

Awesome find on a Damned fine fishing boat!!! That boat will get into places that makes the larger Fiberglass boats wet themselves.  :-?

As far as the Preventive Maintenance on her, I would at the very least put in new plugs, new plug wires, new fuel filter, change the Lower end oil and the motor oil, and also replace the impellar. I know it sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. Do it yourself and save yourself a boat load of money in the process.

Once again, Great looking boat and also a Great find!!!
