NRX 854C

All you NRX 854C owners, what do you guys use this for?  I wasn't planning on getting a heavy rod for my first NRX since I already have two GLX 4 power rods (894 and 854) and I find I don't use to many rods in this power range.  However this guy is giving me a good deal, I was originally interested in the 852C he had, unfortunately he sold it.  Especially you northern fisherman if you own one.  What do you guys use it for and how often, will I use it more often because it's a NRX?  (I use my GLX 854C as my pitching and jig/worm, I use the 894 for deeper water jigs/worm.)

I bought the 854 nrx for 3/8 ounce jig plus trailer. The rod has good tip and casts well but doesn't fish like a heavy.  I started with fluorocarbon and have switched to using braid with a leader.  With braid I'm not missing fish on the hook set. I find myself using this rod most for skipping jigs around docks or fishing heavy shakey heads. I also have the 893 nrx which I use for a light texas rig rod, and the 873 nrx which is a great 1/2 ounce jig, heavy texas rig, or carolina rig rod. I like the 893 and 873 rods better than the 854 but with that being said the 854 is still a good rod.

Buy rods that you have a need for.

Tom

for some reason the NRX 854 is not a popular model and some say it does not feel as lively as the others.

the 873 is a great 1/2oz jig rod (it is not a MH rod as it is labeled) and the 852s is my favorite spinning rod by far out of 15 or so I own. id buy them both again if I had to.

I have heard nothing but good things about the 893, many claim it is the best small jig rod available.

Thanks for the tips and yeah I noticed not much is said about the 854C.  I just think I'll be using it much!  The 852C was the one I really wanted!
