Braid to Fluoro on a Medium Action Spin Rod

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I just bought a lews custom speed stick spinning rod in a 7' medium/x-fast. I'm going to be using my usual braid to Fluoro set up but I'm not sure the best pound test for the braid. I will be fishing an 8-12 lbs test Fluoro leader as this will mostly be my shakey head and senko setup. I figured 15-20 lbs braid would be ok but im not sure. Thanks for the input!

Thanks. That's pretty much what I figured. This is actually a birthday gift for my son so I will probably go ahead and order some 16 lbs test sunline sx1 high viz braid for it.

I use 10lb braid to 6-10lb fluoro on ML spinning rods, and 15lb braid to 8-12lb fluoro on M spinning rods. 20 is ok on spinning gear, I hate 30 on it.

On spinning gear, anything over 10lb is overkill.

I use 10lb. Braid to 6 to 8.lb. fluoro. I have never needed more then that for finess presentations.

i use 20 because I get it in bulk for my small casters like the alphas.  I use a leader of 10 lb fluorocarbon and it works great for me.
