Need somebody to try this out and let me know if it catches anything? Simply a straight shank hook with a pegged sinker rigged weedless. I am thinking that the hook placement will give it a much different action and the straight shank is the only style that will work where it is rigged. 

 

This is falls into the category of too much time on my hands.

I think on the pull the hook point will be on top in prime position, at rest or on the drop will be a bit dicey. In my limited time with a standard wacky rig, the hooking percentage isn't the greatest anyways, so maybe it will help in some cases? A few times I have almost lost a bait because a bass grabbed one end and almost pulled it out of the o-ring. 

 

It sucks, but I have to wait till May to find out if it works.

I have gone o ring and just straight into a generic senko. For some reason the fish were tail grabbing all my baits on me, smallies seem to do that a lot depending on their mood. I haven't tried the 2 o ring thing yet. My wacky rigging is with a fireball jig, I never did weightless.

haha, the tail grabbers, I don't get them too often. you can use the 2 o ring trick on jig heads too. I find it helps me a decent amount with hookups

I fish wacky senkos a lot. Your idea is pretty cool, and I'd be interested in hearing how it works for you. However, I have very few problems with hook-sets, and weeds. I like the Gamakatsu weighted wacky hook. It's pretty good in the weeds, and I would be willing to bet that I go 9:10 on hook-sets with it. For an unweighted hook, I use the Gamakatsu weedless wacky hook. It's basically a wide gap octopus hook with a plastic weed guard, which works very well. I have a very similar hook up ratio with this hook too.

I wouldn't be one to try that out, sorry  

 

I prefer my hook perpendicular to the bait, and 

for weedless, I either make my own, or buy 

wacky-specific in weighted jigs.

 

As well, the bullet would work, but is large and

I'd think would be counter productive to the 

action a smaller, rounder weight would allow.

 

This is just me. I'm all for people trying new stuff,

new ideas and experimentation! 

Yes, I use that rig and it works well.  Except I ditch the 3/4 ounce sinker and downsize the hook to a 1/0 gamakatsu finesse wide gap.  I hook it that way when most people would reach for a weedless wacky hook, but I never cared for the weedless hooks.

I would consider a slip shot weight there in lieu of the bullet weight.

I have had bad luck with wire weed guards locally, they catch as many weeds as the bait. That was why I wanted to try this to toss it into the thick stuff giving them something different. This wouldn't be tossed in open water unless the action seemed to be the trigger then of course it would get used everywhere.

Looks like a variation of the Chicken Rig...

 

 

Sounds like a good place to neko rig or peg the weight up a ways and Carolina rig it so it still falls on bottom weightless. I fish these combos quite regularly
