But less of a factor when all my friends that I would be in public with carry the same way.

 

Fact is the concealed carry compared to how I carry can be argued till we are all blue in the face.

 

And my stance will not change, I prefer my sidearm to be visible at all times.

 

If some one chooses to carry theirs covered that's their own buisness and I won't try and change their mind.

 

I just find it more useful and productve to the use I'm carrying it for to be in the open carry postion.

Not trying to change your mind as I'm sure you've thought about it and have your reasons. I'm really putting it out there for anyone else new to carrying. I think it also depends on where you live. I live in the city and open carry here is a recipe for disaster.

Personally, I don't want anything to give anyone even the idea I might even own a gun.  Things like the signs people put in their yard showing a pistol and saying protected by some brand name.  I have over thirty but you won't walk in my house and see one, unless you are doing something you shouldn't be and then it will only be for a second.  Crooks are looking for guns to steal everyday, advertising you are a gun owner makes you a prime target.  I'm also a firm believer in if you pull one, it's to use it.  My verbal challenge is the bang of the gun first, followed by halt, just in case I miss, which probably ain't gonna happen.

When I'm moving a gun from my house to my vehicle or vise versa, I pull my vehicle around back so it can't be seen to do it.

Agreed. Targeting homes with guns is and easy way for criminals to make big money. Stolen guns go for a premium in northern states with stricter gun laws. A few years ago I read a story about a gang of guys who would find homes with signs in their yards like @Way2slow mentioned and steal all the guns they could then travel to Chicago and sell the guns. They made 10k a month doing that. Be smart, keep it quiet.

I stopped strong side, SOB, crossdraw, shoulder rigs and everything else holster makers could dream up many years ago and now I only "Mexican carry" in a thin deerskin leather type holster. It's the most concealable and available.
