procraft???

i bought a  new 2005   200 superpro dual console with 200 optimax for 24,000 and havent looked back.  the only other bass boat i have owned is a skeeter and i will buy another procraft before a skeeter.  yes the $40,000 rigs are nicer but for a weekend recreation fisherman thats too much.

i compare it to buying a range rover or hummer to a ford or chevy if you need a 4X4.

so since i havent really owned numerous bass boats i was wondering what is the opinion of procrafts around here??

I like the Procraft. I think they are an under rated boat. Like the Hydra Sport...they were a hot bass boat...a fantastic boat...but they never really got a good foothold anywhere and hardly anyone knew about them. ( at least around me)

I know several guys who fish of a ProCraft and love them...they really are just a Nitro though...owned by Tracker Marine...and not too much difference in their construction from the Nitro either.

I do not think ProCraft as large of a dealer base as some other brands, so you do not hear of or see as many as you do some of the other brands with a larger dealer network. Skeeter and some other have dealers are over the south...up by me it is real hard not to buy a Nitro or a Tracker...I think ProCraft is more loosely placed...a dealer here and a dealer there, but no real market control in any specific area.

i like the look of procraft a lot   i think sodasker   has one

Procraft boats has been around for many years. Originally they were owned by the Maidencraft company. They were known for building relatively shallow draft bass boats in the mid to late 70's. The company was merged with Astroglass boats, IIRC, back in the mid 80's.  Somewhere along the line they were bought out by the Brunswick Corp. (people that bought Mercury/Mariner outboards). I believe Brunswick eventually dropped Astroglass keeping the Astro part of the name and also kept Procraft.  Procraft was bought out by tracker marine and Astro boats was shutdown.  Bill Dance has been a spokesman of Procraft for years along with Shaw Grigsby.  They were one of the early manufacturers to produce an entry level line (cheaper line with fewer choices of hardware and colors and pre-rigged with certain engines at specific price points) along with their upper level line.  They make a very competant boat.  Not the fastest, not the slowest.  Not the most fisable but certainly not the least either.

I bought a used 2001 procraft 215 combo (fish and ski).  I have had it for a year now and I love it more every time  I get on the water.  Cart is right about the limitations of "fish and skis" for die hard fishermen, as we have mentioned in other threads but, for me and my family it works.  My wife is finally coming around to it too.  Just last week we were out on the lake with our four kids and I asked her if she was still unhappy that I bought this boat?  Her comment, " I like it a lot better than when you first bought it".  I would buy it all over again. :D
