What JDM Reel?

Featured Replies

My dad asked me what thing i wanted from korea and i asked him for a baitcaster. He told me to tell him the Brand name and model of the reel i want.

So you guys have any suggestions or opinions of what should i go for?

I would first find out the exchange rates and see where you can get it the cheapest.  A lot of times ordering straight from Japan is the cheapest way to go.

I think Shimano Stile is a really cool baitcaster although I haven't ever used it.  Today, I used a Chronarch for the first time and it was pretty amazing, although not super wow honestly.  I would say its the best reel at its price range though, as it was a challenge to get it to backlash and its super smooth.

Daiwa SS SV 103

Always wanted that reel. But now with the Tatula SV coming out I'll likely never get the SS SV.

The new Conquest BFS...yumm....

If you're into the older cylindrical style reels, then the Daiwa Ryoga Shrapnel is another Daiwa option that's more affordable and comparable to the Shimano Calcutta Conquest.

Not as many options though as far as retrieve and gear ratios.

So guys any thoughts on Megabass reels or the Shimano IDC reels?

Antares DC would be a good starting point.....

Any of ya here tried the Shimano scorpion(Might try the Old scorpion DC)

Im planning to pair it up with a Denali Roseweed 6 MH Dock casting rod(which not sure if the rod is going to be okay with multi purposes)

there is a shop called lunker at the southeastern outskirts of seoul that has an impressive jdm selection. prices are not cheap but you can get an idea of their inventory here - lunker.co.kr

I believe it translates to roughly 254 dollars (290,000 won) . Still a good price and a very fun reel to fish. You should see if he can locate any limited Jdm Steez models.
