When to choose a ribbed tube over a non-ribbed tube (e.g. Yum Vibra King/Big Bite Craw Tube) vs a plain tube?

 

Do the ribs really make a difference?

 

 

I don't like the ribbed tubes, seems like I miss more fish with them. 

I personally rarely fish a tube that doesn't have ribs. Keeps the MegaStrike on longer and the smallies seem to love them! The Yum tubes are my favorites. I now regularly use non-ribbed tubes only on the drop shot, with a small piece of foam insterted. Keeps those tails waving seductively.

the only tube I throw with ribs is the BBB tube craw. I throw that when I want to present a bigger profile than my typical 3.5 inch tender tube.
