Boat cover waterproofing ?

Featured Replies

Anyone ever use CRC or other brand boat cover waterproofing? My cover has no rips or tears, but water does seep through. I think it is the original Tracker boat cover. The boat was always in a garage and I think the cover is just "dried" out.

I plan on getting a Tarp for when the boat sits outside for long periods, but I want to use the regular one for trips and such. I didn't want to ruin it by applying something I shouldn't. It is a type of cloth, canvas, I think.

thanks

Bill, I waited to see if anyone else would respond to your question. A product you may want to try is Camp Dry. It is really made for rainsuits. It is available in this area at most outdoor sports shops. I have used it on rainsuits and my boat cover for years. I spray once a year. It cost about $5 a can and one can should do the trick. It is available at BPS.........................Al

303 makes a whole line of products for canvas care.  They also make some great boat wax (for fiberglass)

Thanks guys, that's what I wanted to know. I did run into the 303 stuff when I was looking online.

When I was thinking about this, I remembered that big Circus Tent fire in New England that killed all them people in the 40's or 50's. Turned out someone mixed up some homemade waterproofing for the tent that was highly flammable and poof. I guess I spend too much time watching the History Channel.

the 303 products Glenn mentioned....

that stuff ROCKS!!!!!

I've been told that you can spray a canvas cover with the same weather protector that you use on decks. I've never tried it myself.
