Guys from Kentucky, are you seeing pre-spawn activity yet? Whats the water like down there?

I'm going out again Sunday and will let you know. Been a little colder these past couple nights than it has been but highs in the 60s Sunday

Most water temps are still in the high 40's on the Northeast side of the sate

I ended up going somewhere else and regretted it lol, I should've went to cedar. I'm not sure on the water temp at cedar but at cave run I found water temps ranging between 49-56

Where did you find those temps?  Fished there Sunday and the warmest I found was 48 at Claylick.  I only fished the main lake, though.

I found those temps at the mouth of the river, it was really muddy up there though. Also I fished by the dam right before I left and the water was warm there too but didn't catch a fish all day. Did you catch any?

I fished this past Sunday for about 3 hours in the afternoon.  First 2 hours I was using a spinnerbait, senko, and ned rig with no bites at all.  Switched to a Yo-Zuri red and black lipless crankbait and caught 3 keepers in a row.  Then the bite slowed down again.  Water was still pretty cold.

How's the southern part of the state looking? Specifically Kentucky lake I have the KBF national championship there in 2 weeks. Would be nice to take home that fat payday how's the fishing been down that way.

No, no fish caught or seen.  We were on the north bank next to the dam for a while.  The wind was supposed to light and variable but was 10-15 out of the east and pretty cold.  Wind eventually died down.  Fished a couple coves but never got down to the river.

Low 50s on Wood Creek last weekend. Low 50s and upper 40s on Laurel Lake a few days before that. This cool and windy snap has had me off the water since then.

some friends of mine been catching some 5 and 6 lb ladies out of wood creek lake. just last week.

I just want to know how Ky got put in the north east forum? Lol

Starting to see a few shallow bass now on Laurel, caught this one yesterday:

That's a nice one Superfan! The fish are starting to move towards the banks here in eastern KY but the recent rains have turned my home lake in to a mud hole with 6 inches of visibility at the most. Water temps are nearing the 60s in the afternoons now. Anyone have suggestions for catching prespawners in water that looks like chocolate milk?

Thanks!

As for muddy water, I like a Black/Blue jig with some bulk to it. The fish should be very shallow and often tight to any cover. A chartreuse spinnerbait with some big gold blades, or a black/blue chatterbait should be good options too. I admit I'm no muddy water expert though!

Thanks for the input. I don't fish muddy water a lot but over the past 2 years I've been fishing Dewey Lake in Prestonsburg and it always has less clarity than I'm used too. I spent a lot of time on lakes that are gin clear like Laurel in my younger years so it always messes with my confidence when I'm in muddy water.

When Dewey is muddy this time of year try a red and black crank
